Blanket For ‘Sasquatch’

My middle child turns 18 in a few days.

I texted him a while back to ask him what his favorite colors are; I didn’t tell him that it was his little brother wanting to know, else he might not have answered. He told me–and then asked if I were going to knit him something. In return, I asked him if he wanted me to knit him something. He said a blanket that would cover all of him. For the record, he is six feet tall or taller.

I told his grandmother (my mom) about his request and she started to make him a blanket in his favorite colors, big enough to cover all of him (and his big feet, hence the ‘Sasquatch’ moniker. She does the most amazing C2C blankets (if you want to see more, click here). It arrived last week…it is HUGE and it is gorgeous.

I am working on a granny square blanket in his favorite colors. I do not work nearly so fast as my mother. And I don’t actually think I have touched it in a few weeks…because I have had so many other things going on. It’s that ever-lasting choice: do I read? knit? crochet? bind a book? paint? clean? I can only pick one thing at a time. when my brain is working hard to avoid things, it stops–and I stop … everything stops and nothing can really get done.

I do not think I will complete the blanket before his birthday, but I will have it done before the end of the year…which is all that is required of me. I am working on it again…as well as my eyelet sweater here and there.

What are you working on lately? Let me know in the comments below.
