It is a combined biography of Mary Wollstonecraft and Mary Shelley.

I caught a movie about Mary Shelley a week before I bought the book.  One thing I learned quite quickly, even though I thought the movie amazing and beautiful, is that the movie left of whole swathes of people and experiences and so much more.  The movie tossed out one sister completely and called the other sister by the lost sister’s name, for one thing. 

The book, however, has fascinated me.  I never realized that there Mary Wollstonecraft was anything other than Mary Shelley’s mother.  I never knew she was a writer…nor had any idea what she wrote.  Also, I had no idea that Mary Shelley wrote as extensively as she did.

When I ordered this book, I also ordered a biography of Byron and of Percy Bysshe Shelley as well (one of each).  Just so I can learn more and so I can compare what is included and what is excluded throughout the gamut of the biographies.  It is just what I do.

I am also planning to buy Wollstonecraft’s collected works…and some of Mary Shelley’s as well.  There is a lot to be learned from these works. 

I am enjoying the book itself. I am looking forward to learning more by reading the other biographies and the other writings as well.
