  • Waiting For The Season Two Wednesday Premier

When the first season of Netflix’s Wednesday came out, we as a family held our breath to see how it would go. Could be bad. Could be good. We waited.

I have a lot of criticism about the storyline and various things that changed about the characters themselves, but overall…the first season showed promise…as in, should there be another, or more than one season, then surely the show could improve. And then Jenna Ortega said she was taking over a lot more and digging more into Wednesday for season two…and I thought for sure, now things will be great…although I still reserve judgment for when season two releases.

However, our youngest has loved Netflix’s Wednesday from the very beginning.

Now, season two of Wednesday drops Part 1 … on his birthday.
And so…we begin to plan. We begin to craft. We begin to work.

Our youngest requested a “Wednesday cake”…not as his birthday cake, but as the cake we shall have for the premier of season two of Wednesday.

Honestly, all I did was ask the kid if he wanted me to make him Wednesday-inspired hexagon sweaters because of the kerfluffle that ensued prior to the Minecraft movie premier. Plus, he loves the black and white stripes that Pugsley wore in season one.

    No. No crocheting. Baking.

His request: a black and white cake, with gooey red icing in between the layers, with a red mirror glaze on top that dribbles off the edges and drips down like blood.

The black and white layers are easy. A basic checkerboard style. Black cake made with black cocoa — yes, it is a thing. White cake means no egg whites. Even the red gooey icing in between layers…I can manage that. The issue…a mirror glaze on top dripping over the edges. That requires some effort from me.

Now, if we all enjoyed eating cake, we’d be practicing this every week (at least)…however, I’ve been sick — most of April, nearly all of May—I am trying in June, but no promises…and I have no appetite. A Blondie from 7Brews can ‘feed’ me all day and I never notice I should, ya know, eat actual food. And the guys, they are not all that into cake or things of that nature.

I don’t want to bake cake after cake after cake and the birds are the only ones who actually get any and enjoy it.

So, we’ll get there on that one. Somehow.

Oh, are you wondering what he wants for his birthday cake?

Mary Berry’s coffee and walnut cupcakes. Minus the walnuts. Minus the icing.

But, what he wants for the Wednesday premier: his “Wednesday cake”.

    Fine.

I am probably going to make him a black and white hexagon cardigan at some point, either before, or during part one of season two of Wednesday. (How many times can I say season two in one little post?)

Maybe this will be what I give him when part two of Wednesday is available.

    That’s him.

What am I planning to do for me?

First of all, I have a stash of Big Twist Value Solids in black (among other colors)…and I just bought some Premier Yarns Just Yarn Worsted Value Ombre in the Rust Ombre. I am planning to make a hexagon cardigan with these two colors. Although technically, I was already planning this for Halloween and then the teaser video for season two came out and Morticia is wearing a black dress with red inserts in the sleeves…so now, the cardigan can be Wednesday-inspired.

My original idea (using Big Twist Value Solids from my stash—I stocked up last October) was and still is to make a long hexagon cardigan using black, dark grey, and I am debating on whether to use white, or purple. I keep leaning more towards purple because that’s how I am.

I also have bagged up and am ready to fly with Big Twist Value Solids in black and white (two rounds of each) followed by a lighter shade of grey (only one round) for another hexi cardi. I very much love the idea in my head.

I mean to have at least one of these done before August 6, which is the part one release date.

However, I am also going to need to make matching hats for our youngest to go along with the theme, just because. It is what I do. And he requires kitten ears on his hat as well.

Will I be making a snood? Or three? Maybe. Our youngest is not a scarf wearing person, but he does complain a lot about being cold, all winter long. I was actually thinking I might make this pattern: the Wild Oleander Hooded Scarf pattern by wickedlyhandmade.

I will leave off the fringe. I have had plans to make myself one; I might as well make him one as well.

We’ll see what else crops up for the Wednesday drop as the days stretch out towards August.

Are you making anything for the premier of Wednesday Season Two? Or for any other premier? Let me know which premier and what your plans are in the comments below.
