Find a place where you have questions.
Perhaps you wonder what this character did before the story begins.
Perhaps you wonder what that character did during the story that was never revealed.
Or perhaps you wonder what the other character did years after the story ended, or perhaps sooner than that.
Now, write the tale as it comes to you.
For example, take from one movie:
What happened to a six-year-old that made him even think about killing the babysitter/his sister? What happened to him? And/or what did she do?
If Michael has been locked up in an asylum since he was six years old, how does he know how to drive a car?
What if Laurie had ignored her friends ignoring her feelings? What if she had listened to her intuition about Michael from the very start?
