Novel #1, my darling baby, is currently in the second round of edits before I begin the first rewrite of the whole thing.
I am keeping quite a bit of what I initially wrote intact; I just have to tidy up details, make sure everything is consistent, and ensure that I didn’t mention things once and never again.
What could that be? The one and never again things? A brother of our two main male characters. An image that enters into our main female character’s dreams. That sort of thing.
I did cut nearly half the original novel once I sat down to edit for the first round. Most of it was background information I as the writer need to know but that would bog down the novel if I left it all in.
Currently, I am thinking that the pieces that I cut out may make good short stories and bonus material at some point.
My goal for September, which may actually come true, is to finish the first rewrite of Novel #1.
