I drive myself crazy.
Recently, I bought the Granny Pop Pullover and the Granny Pop V-Neck Pullover patterns from MJ’s Off The Hook on Ravelry.
On the drive to the MO State Fair, I worked on my pullover (the regular one, not the v-neck) and got fairly far on it. On the way home, once I became cognizant again (it was such a rough day for me there—the heat…it was too much), I looked at it and frogged out a whole skein of yarn and then some.
This is a top-down sweater. I was nearly through with working up the body when I decided to frog it. I frogged it all the way back to where the sleeves connect before you begin the body.
I am using Hobbii’s Amigo yarn, which is DK weight. There are 191 yards per skein. I frogged more than an entire skein of yarn off the body of the sweater.
Why? Because I felt that something was off where I joined the sleeves to the body. Maybe it was physical and mental exhaustion from our time at the Fair, maybe there was something actually off. I have no idea at this point. I took my project bag and put it away when we got home. I have not looked at it since. If there was nothing wrong with the sweater, which is possible, I do not want to know.
I love the Granny Pop Pullover patterns. I was overjoyed when I got the subscriber email from MJ’s Off The Hook about the CAL—where you can crochet any of the patterns from the Granny Pop line. I have been pondering picking my original Granny Pop back up and finishing that, but when the CAL was announced, I decided I wanted to play fair and start a new project.
I am doing this CAL with a fresh yarn and a fresh attitude.
When you sign up for the CAL, you get a discount code to use with Mary Maxim. I placed an order for my favorite colorway of Bernat Pop, the Birch Bark and Blue…as well as a few Halloween projects. After dancing up and down waiting for my order to arrive, USPS delivered my two packages to the wrong address. I am now waiting to hear back from Mary Maxim—because I tried several times to submit a request for lost mail to the Post Office—only to find out that the website will not accept anything I try to do. I get “system error” and “try again later” messages. I tried to use a different online form and that won’t even load…I get a line of error code for that one.
My packages were mis-delivered on a Sunday; hence, the online travesty.
All I can do is PRAY my order gets reshipped and I get my yarn (and the other stuff as well) as quickly as possible.
I do have some Bernat Pop in Birch Bark and Blue, but I do not think that I have enough for an entire sweater. I can order this yarn in other places, but the price through Mary Maxim was so good. When I looked online, when I was checking my order status, I saw that my color yarn was sold out…and so…I may have to go stash diving to see if I have anything that might work in a pinch.
I did want to share about the CAL because crochet is a cult and we must indoctrinate more followers…I mean, I am sure there are a lot of other people out there who would love to participate in this CAL.
I am also looking forward to the pattern bundle that will be available at the end of the CAL. I hadn’t realized how many Granny Pop patterns there are.
All Granny Pop patterns, and then some, are available on MJ’s Off The Hook blog. She has amazing video tutorials on YouTube as well, which is how I originally found her.
Let me know down below if you’ll be crocheting along with the rest of us.
