I am not a summer girl. Give me Autumn. Give me Winter. I will even take Spring. Summer, it is not for me.
I have got to go stash diving and pull out some cotton yarn to make summery tops and tank tops. I have been having too much fun making pullover sweaters for when the weather is warmer—and for Halloween.
Depending on my mood and my health, a raglan sweater with long sleeves takes me two to four days to crochet from start to finish. Here’s hoping that tank tops take even less time.
I have been saying that I will finish all the Halloween (garment) items before I start any other projects. Well, not really.
I finished the last Halloween-inspired sweater, which you can see here, and immediately pulled out yarn for the next Halloween sweater…but picked up yarn I had pulled out weeks ago and started working with it, which you can see here. So, so much for finishing all the Halloween makes before stepping into something else.
As you can see from the project page, this is not a cotton yarn make either, so it is not as if I am whipping something up real quick for the season at hand.
Even though it doesn’t take me too long to whip up the pieces I am making for the Halloween season, if I finish everything in my notes and in my head, as well as our son’s requests, it will be long past September, which sort of defeats the purpose of crocheting a bunch of tank tops and summery tops, now doesn’t it?
I am at least having a lot of fun though, so I guess that counts.
As soon as I finish the Parrot Raglan, I will be making a Halloween sweater, but it will not be a raglan. I am making it in four pieces and seaming it together. When I begin to dream about making and seaming pieces, then I am certain I am on the right track.
I may make at least three sweaters using Halloween yarn (from Herrschners) using this four pieces seamed together method. This is the method I will be using, albeit five main pieces, to make my oversized cardigan, using black, purple, and grey yarns.
Then, I may have to make the time to make rugs for the house in Halloween colors. Our son is asking for round rugs and rectangular rugs. We’ve had knitted rugs before that we found at a local thrift store. But, one cat had issues with these rugs, no matter what I washed them with to remove any odors.
But, that is a future me issue, so I will let that go for right now.
Until next time…
